This is one of my all time favorite rulers! I use it nearly every time I am cutting and piecing. What's so great about it?
Well...many of the units I make are 3.5 inches or smaller. A 3.5 or 4.5 inch ruler is wonderful because you can easily pick it up with one hand and get working. The 12.5 inch size is also very practical for subcutting and strip cutting. I never used it more than when I was piecing my Circa 1880 Nine Patch quilt.Â
It is especially great for cutting strips, subcutting and cutting squares in half once or twice diagonally because of the line of sand-papery grip that is all along the outside edge of the ruler. It grabs onto your fabric so it doesn't move. Ultra important when cutting those squares in half or twice diagonally to yield triangles. How often has your ruler slipped when trying to cut a perfect triangle or setting triangles?
One long side of ruler has the sand-papery grip a full half-inch wide which really grabs onto the fabric! I think you'll really love this ruler! I use it all the time along with the 4.5 inch square version, also available on my website.
